What Does Restylane® Silk Treat?
The lips and the lines around the mouth, like other areas of the face, show signs of aging as you get older. This often results in lip thinning, lost shape and an increase in vertical lines above the lip. Restylane® Silk is designed specifically to provide natural-looking results in these particular areas by using smaller, smoother hyaluronic acid particles than those used in other Restylane® products.
Restylane® Silk is the first FDA-approved product specifically designed for subtle lip augmentation and the smoothing of wrinkles around the mouth. It is composed of a gel that is smaller and smoother than other Restylane products, resulting in a softer, more precise result — ideal for restoring and enhancing the lips. Additionally, Restylane® Silk is administered via ultrafine needle, which is designed for improved accuracy and precision.

As skin ages, it naturally slows the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid, a naturally present and produced substance in the body, which plays an essential role in hydrating the skin and restoring natural volume. As this production slows, skin becomes less hydrated, thinner, slows its ability to restore itself, and loses its natural elasticity, becoming more susceptible to the formation of wrinkles and folds.
Restylane® works to combat signs of aging by restoring age-related volume loss with Hyaluronic acid, and stimulating collagen production over time.
Dermal fillers are facial injection treatments used to help diminish wrinkles while restoring volume and fullness in the face and hands. There are several types of dermal fillers, one being hyaluronic acid. All Restylane® products are transparent hyaluronic acids, which are sugars naturally found in the skin that help provide hydration, fullness and elasticity.

Before And After Care
Before Treatment
Avoid using aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen), St. John’s wort or high doses of vitamin E supplements. These agents may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site. Speak with your healthcare professional if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores. He or she may prescribe a medication to minimize recurrence.
After Treatment
Please observe the following after treatment with Restylane-L:
- A cloth dipped in cold water (cold compresses), wrung out, and applied to the injected area may be used immediately after treatment to reduce swelling.
- Avoid touching the treated area within six hours following treatment so you do not accidentally injure your skin while the area is numb. After that, the area can be gently washed with soap and water.
- Until there is no redness or swelling, avoid exposure of the treated area to intense heat such as sun lamps or sun bathing.
- If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another occurrence. Speak to your physician about medicine to prevent this from happening again.
- Avoid taking aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort, and high doses of Vitamin E supplements for one week after treatment. These agents may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
