Sunscreen Is a Non-Negotiable
Approximately 90 percent of all visible age markers are a result of sun damage. Not only can sunscreen minimize the chance of premature aging, one study published in Dermatologic Surgery found that it may actually reverse the signs of aging!
Here is what to know about sunscreen:
- Apply broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher about 15 to 20 minutes prior to stepping outside.
- Wear sunscreen whenever outdoors, even during cloudy, overcast weather.
- Apply sunscreen on all exposed body areas, including the neck, hands and ears.
- Reapply at least every two hours or as often as directed on the instructions of the sunscreen label.
Additional sun care tips include wearing wraparound sunglasses with 100 percent UV ray protection, as well as broad-brimmed hats, long-sleeved shirts and other protective clothing.
